"I never said I wanted you to go," she said defensively. She watched him lift a leg, but remain in his spot. She watched him look around, was he looking for the mountain? She watched him seem to try and move again, but remain still. "Something wrong?" she finally asked. "You seem...well, stuck to the grass." She slowly circled him and came to a stop in front and to the right of him.

“Nothing is wrong. Just I…” What was he trying to say? He frowned and tried to search his mind, delving into the center, but all he found was a stonewall. He started cracking it, but once it was opened, he was scared of what was inside. Was this really what had been lurking? Was this really what had been hidden? And moreover, did he want to release it?
“I do have to leave, if I want to get there before the sun sets, but…do you think you’ll be safe here? With no one to…protect you?”

Crimson blinked in surprise. She shrugged and lowered her head slightly. "As much as my pride wants me to say that I can fend for myself, I just don't think that's the truth, not yet anyways. But," she continued, "I don't want to be the one that stands between you and your home, so leave if you must," she said, smiling slightly. She didn't want to guilt him into anything or make him feel responsible for her safety if he didn't want to be. "I don't want to be a burden. 'Twould make me feel bad, you see."

“Please don’t make this anymore difficult than it has to be. I’m asking…do…do…” he stopped and quickly looked down to the ground. Was he going to sacrifice everything that made him, him? Was he going to end it all?
“Do you want to come with me? To Starry Peak? And…perhaps…stay for awhile?” He couldn’t look, not with so much on the line. He couldn’t say anything more to distract himself. It took all that was with him to bear the pain of keeping his ears open, to hear what she would say next.

Crimson stood, looking at him with a confused question as he spoke the first time. What's he trying to say? she wondered and she hid a small smile as she made a guess as to what he was doing.
"Really?" she asked and looked at him. Was he afraid she would scorn him? His body language seemed to suggest that, or something along those lines. "Yes," she said after a short pause. "Yes, I'd like to go back with you to Starry Peak and I'll stay." She paused for a moment and then quickly added, "As long as you'll let me, that is." She didn't want to impose, but she didn't say it outloud. She silently pondered over what she was making difficult for him and then a sudden thought struck her. "I don't believe I caught your name. I'm Crimson Flower," she said, bowing her head slightly. "You can call me Crimson if you like."

His ears suddenly pricked up. “That’s a…pretty name. My name is Sunstone. If…if you’ll follow me…” He picked up his hooves and started in the direction of the mountains, gait lively and well. Okay, he hadn’t officially asked her to be in his band, but it was a start, and the best start one was likely to get from Sunstone. A shadow of a smile crossed his muzzle, as he picked up speed, and started to penetrate the forest that stood between him and his home.

Crimson smiled at the compliment and nodded when he spoke his name. If…if you’ll follow me… She prepared her legs, ready to run and started after him. She smiled as they made it to the trees and began running through the forest. She slowed slightly to better weave around trees and made sure the she could always see Sunstone. After all, it would be fairly difficult to find where she was going if she lost track of the horse she was following, right?
