Moonstone was quite an attractive mare, very attractive indeed with her slick grey coat and her long flowing mane and tail. Her eyes sparkled with charm and there was almost always a sweet, seductive smile which curled her delicate lips. She held her Arabian tail high in the air on this balmy evening night. The sun was setting in a brilliant farewell of dazzling pink and orange. Although the equine eye could not see color, their eyes could see contrast extremely well, so the mare couldn't help, but to turn and gaze and a eye-watering display in it's glory.
She had come to try her luck in the claiming grounds. True, she had tried it many times before and not succeeded in roping herself a stallion. She couldn't figure out for the life of her why that was. She was beautiful, she was charming, she was submissive and flattering. In short she was everything a stallion could ever want to find in a mare. All she wanted was a foal, a home, and a handsome stallion to be her mate. In the fading light, she strolled over to a patch of lush grass a few feet from an oak tree. Lowering her head, she snatched half-hungrily at the plant beneath her lips in a bored manner, fearing neither predator nor darkness. Ah, her naitivity was going to kill her some day if she didn't find a stallion who could take care of her soon. Although she was born with the looks, she possessed no brains; instinct and flirting were the only intellectual knowledge she had been granted. Alone, the little mare waiting for her prince charming to sweep her off her hooves, or at least offer her a place within his herd.

And here he was again, ready to try his hand at finding a mare again. Sukru moved across he claiming grounds with a sort of regal grace. True it was getting dark and he wasn't quite sure whether or not he would want to make the trip home alone in the dark if he couldn't find a mare to bring back with him.
To him, it seemed like he'd been searching for a lone mare for hours and then his eyes landed on the silver Arabian. His ears perked up with interest as he made his way over to her with a slight smile. He dipped his head in greeting before speaking. "Hello. A bit late to be roaming alone isn't it?" he asked. Most other mares might have gone to seek shelter from the night and all the carnivores that hid under the cover of darkness. He sneezed slightly as a fly landed on this inside of his nose, but continued to look at the mare.

The mare turned at the sound of someone speaking, looking a little surprised and very pleased.
"What?" She asked him in her sweet, flirty voice. She was happy to finally see a stallion in front her and he was actually talking to her. "Oh, yes, I suppose it is." She said, taking a step toward him, showing no sign of fear. Looking around, she confirmed what she had been hoping.
"You're alone too." She pointed out, with a seductive little smile. She moved close to him, fearing neither attack now anything else as she reached out with her nose, preceded by her dished face, to reach his nose in greeting. Characteristically, she blinked her eyes, fringed with long lashes. "Do you have a name?" She asked in a sort of unintelligent way. "I love names." She added randomly. She didn't care what kind of a stallion he was, the main thing was that he was a stallion and he was very good-looking to boot. This was just about the only thing this mare could do, flirt.

Sukru took a step back at first when she moved closer to him. He was more used to mares who were standoffish at first and so all this friendliness momentarily caught him off guard. He smiled slightly and nodded. "Yes I am," he said and began to explain. "I have a territory not far from here, but there are no other horses in it besides me," he said and sighed softly.
Her next question was a normal one, but it was the statement after it that he found a bit strange. "Yes I have a name," he said, deciding to be playful. He waited for a moment like the conversation was done and then acted slightly surprised. "Oh! Did you want to know what it was?" he asked, tilting his head to the side slightly. There was still a small smile across his muzzle as he looked at her. She was a pretty mare and, at least visually, she would make a fine addition to his herd. After all, isn't that what most stallions want? A herd filled with pretty mares?

"Of course I want to know your name!" Moonstone enthused, her eyes bright ans sparkling with their lack of knowledge and common sense. She smiled widely and took another step closer to him, still looking adoringly into his face.
"You mean, you're a lead stallion?" She giggled in a feminine way and smile happily. "And there are no horses in your herd?" She gave him her most seductive smile yet and lifted her dock ever-so-slightly in that Arabian way, so characteristic of the breed, yet still suggestive in way.
"You mean it would be just the two of us....alone?" She turned her head slightly to one side, looking at him with those cute, but still mildly shallow eyes, eyes which were lacking in experience or much intelligence...eyes which were beautiful and naive.

"I am Lord Sukru," he said and paused for a short moment. "You may call me Sukru. And what is your name? he asked, looking at her. He stood still and his face seemed to remain emotionless as she moved around him and flirted. He was curious to see what she would do. His experience with other mares in other lands was that if you ignored their flirting they got upset and he was simply curious about what this one would do.
"Yes, I suppose you're right. There would be just the two of us there, if only for a short while," he stated and shrugged slightly, also turning his face slightly to get a better look at her. He allowed a small smile at the lovely mare and mentally asked himself how long he could pretend to ignore the flirting. It wasn't easy, that was for sure, but it had to be done. Well, not really, but that's what he was telling himself.

”Sukru.” She mused, saying it in her lovely manner. ”Sukru. It’s a nice name. What does it mean?” This Arabian had the face of an angel, the voice of a bird and the beauty of a sunrise, but she was, well, to be blunt, stupid. ”I am Moonstone.” She added, ”But you can call me Moon if you please.” She said with another fluttering of her eyelashes.
”Oh.” She said, her head dropping in some disappointment, ”Why, who else will be there?” She questioned, the thought not passing through her mind that this stallion might be after other mares as well as her, but thoughts rarely did pass through her head. It was true that she was a little selfish, but she was lonely, but quite impatient and mildly annoyed that Sukru wasn’t responding to her obvious attempts to get his attention. Was he blind as the bat which slept in the cave in the dead of night? Was he deaf? To emphasize her point, she moved a little closer to him; close enough so that she could run her muzzle along the flat side of his neck, softly, sweetly, temptingly.

Sukru smirked slightly, but it quickly vanished. So it did bother her that he didn't seem to be responding to her flirting. He nodded slightly after she spoke her name. "You have a very lovely name to match your beauty," he said with a slight with of his head. He blinked at her as if the answer to her next question should have been obvious.
"Well, you can't have a herd with just one mare and one stallion," he pointed out. The he thought of something that might convince her to come along with him. "But I'm sure that you'll always hold a special place because you were the first mare there."

”Thank you.” She said, thanking him for his compliment about her name in her breathy voice. ”I love it too, it’s like, a moonstone.” She finished triumphantly, ”Or a moon, or a stone!” Her eyes lit up with fascination at her own rambling before she turned a pouting face to Sukru.
”We can’t? She asked, sounding genuinely shocked at that prospect, she thought she knew everything about herds. After all, she had grown up in one hadn’t she? There was her sire, her dam, her brothers and sisters and then everyone else. Surely there could be a herd with just one set, right?
”How wonderful!” The Arabian exclaimed, practically jumping up and down with delight. ”I always thought you were a cutie too.” She mused, smiling at him sweetly, even though this was the first time she had met him in her life.

Sukru paused, his head help up high in pride at her compliment. He glanced at her and lowered him head slightly. "So will you come back with me, then?" he asked bluntly. No emotion tinted his voice other than than that slight inflection at the end that made his statement a question. He wouldn't let any emotion that might signal that he cared for the mare show. It was a weakness to grow attached to others. After all, any enemy would just use that against him in the future.
No. He may say things to the mare to get her to join him, but he wouldn't allow himself to get attached. Or at least, he would try not to. He raised his head again in a proud manner as he waited for the pretty little arabian's response.
